Andhra Pradesh : Govt procured 27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in Kharif season: Nadendla
Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar announced that the NDA govt in the state procured 27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the Kharif season, which is almost 90% more compared to the previous year. Manohar said that the state govt is bringing cheer to farmers by making timely payments for the procured paddy.
In a statement shared on social media platform ‘X,’ Manohar revealed that 27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured by Sunday, benefiting 4,15,066 farmers. He emphasised the govt’s commitment to ensuring swift payments, with ₹6,083.69 crore already deposited directly into farmers’ accounts within 24 hours of procurement.
Highlighting the contrast with the previous govt, minister Nadendla noted that during the previous govt regime, paddy procurement reached only 2 lakh farmers by this time, and payments were often delayed. He lauded the current alliance govt for its farmer-centric policies and efficiency in paddy procurement.Manohar said that Sankranti is a harvest festival, and farmers celebrate it on a grand note with the money earned by selling paddy cultivated in the Kharif season. “Farmers during the last 5 years faced delays in receiving payment for the paddy sold by them. They didn’t receive money months after selling paddy. But this govt credited money within 24 hours after procurement. Now farmers are gearing up for Sankranti celebrations happily,” Manohar said.
